Privacy Policy
LëtzQuiz is a free app for learning Luxembourgish. It is built to work without collecting your personal data. This page explains what happens to information when you use it.
Accounts (optional)
You can use LëtzQuiz without an account. If you create one, it is used only to save your learning progress and to let you use it on more than one device. The app has no advertising and no tracking cookies, and your email address is never used for marketing.
An account stores:
- your email address;
- your first name, used to greet you in the app, and, only if you add it, your last name. You can change these at any time in Profile → Account → Edit profile;
- your password, stored only in scrambled (hashed) form, so nobody, including us, can read it;
- your learning progress: flashcard scores, levels marked as done, answer counters and where you stopped in podcast episodes;
- when the account was created and when your progress was last saved.
Accounts and progress are kept with Supabase on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Each account can only read and change its own data. Emails for confirming your address and resetting your password are sent through Brevo (EU).
In Profile → Account you can download a copy of your data at any time, and delete your account. Deleting removes your account and the progress saved in it straight away. Progress stored on your device stays there until you reset it in the app or clear your browser data.
Visit statistics
To know how many people use LëtzQuiz and which parts are most useful, the app counts visits with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly statistics service. It records which page or section was opened (for example “Speaking” or a grammar level), the referring website, and general details such as browser, screen size, country and whether the app was opened from the home screen.
GoatCounter does not use cookies, does not store your IP address and does not build a profile of you or follow you across other websites. The figures are only shown as totals. See GoatCounter's privacy policy.
Data stored on your device
Without an account, all learning progress is stored only on your device. Your learning progress (for example flashcard scores and chapter progress), your settings (such as the theme), your listening position in podcast episodes and any word reports you make are stored only in your browser's local storage on your own device. Without an account they are not sent to us or to anyone else. If you log in, a copy of your learning progress is also saved to your account, as described above. Clearing your browser's site data, or uninstalling the app, deletes what is on your device.
To work offline, the app also keeps a copy of its own files (pages, word lists and audio) in your browser's cache.
Third-party services
Some parts of the app load content from other services. When they do, your device connects to them directly, and they receive technical information such as your IP address:
- Netlify hosts www.letzquiz.app and may keep standard server logs.
- GoatCounter counts visits, as described under “Visit statistics” above.
- Supabase stores accounts and saved progress, and Brevo sends account emails, only if you create an account. The Supabase sign-in code is loaded from jsDelivr only when you use an account.
- Cloudflare Turnstile runs a quick check that you're a person, not a bot, when you create an account, log in or reset your password. It doesn't use tracking cookies; see Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy notice.
- Google Fonts supplies the font used for the LëtzQuiz logo.
- INLL podcast (Poterkëscht): episode audio and artwork stream from the INLL's official podcast feed and its hosting service (Spotify for Podcasters), only when you open or play an episode.
- Vimeo plays the ZLS "Lëtzebuergesch richteg schreiwen" videos, only when you open one. The player is loaded with Vimeo's "do not track" setting.
These services handle that information under their own privacy policies.
Children
LëtzQuiz is intended for adult learners. It does not knowingly collect any information from children.
