Pattern Time + Verb + Subject + Object.

Haut iessen ech eng Pizza. Today I'm eating a pizza.

This is the most important rule in Luxembourgish: the conjugated verb is always in position 2. If you start with something other than the subject, the subject moves after the verb.

• Ech iessen haut eng Pizza.I'm eating a pizza today.
• Haut iessen ech eng Pizza.Today I'm eating a pizza. (not Haut ech iessen)
• Owes drénken ech en Téi.In the evening I drink a tea.
• Um 8 Auer schaffen ech.At 8 o'clock I work.

Useful time words: haut, muer, gëschter, moies, mëttes, owes, all Dag, um … Auer, am Weekend.

Questions also put the verb up front.
