Frequently asked questions
What is the Sproochentest?
The Sproochentest is the Luxembourgish language test you need to pass for Luxembourg nationality by naturalisation. It is organised by the INLL (Institut national des langues Luxembourg).
What level of Luxembourgish do I need?
You need level A2 in speaking (Mëndlechen Ausdrock) and level B1 in listening (Héierverstoen), on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
What happens in the speaking test?
You talk with an examiner about everyday life: yourself, your family, your home, your work and free time. You also describe and talk about a picture. Answering in full, connected sentences helps.
What happens in the listening test?
You listen to recordings in Luxembourgish, such as conversations and announcements, and answer questions about what you heard.
How can I prepare for the Sproochentest?
Practise answering typical questions aloud in full sentences, learn the most common verbs in the present and the past (Perfekt), and listen to Luxembourgish every day, for example the INLL podcasts. LëtzQuiz has free speaking topics with sample answers, a grammar course and podcasts with transcripts.
Is LëtzQuiz an official Sproochentest resource?
No. LëtzQuiz is a free, independent app and is not affiliated with the INLL. For dates, fees and registration, see the official INLL website.
